Global Application Builder (GAB) Consulting Services in Dallas
Custom Global Shop ERP screens, automated workflows, and real-time dashboards for Dallas-Fort Worth manufacturers — built by a Texas-based GAB consulting team that understands aerospace, electronics, and precision manufacturing floors across the DFW metro.
OVERVIEW
Global Application Builder (GAB) Consulting in Dallas — Built for a Diversified Manufacturing Base
Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the most industrially diverse metros in Texas — aerospace and defense manufacturers around Fort Worth, electronics and telecom component makers across the northern suburbs, medical device producers, precision machine shops, and a logistics and distribution corridor that moves parts and finished goods across the country every day. If your operation runs Global Shop Solutions ERP, chances are the standard screens were never built for the specific mix of compliance, traceability, and throughput demands your DFW shop deals with daily.
DESSS provides Global Application Builder (GAB) consulting for Dallas-area manufacturers who need their ERP to work the way their shop actually operates, not the other way around. Our consultants build directly inside Global Shop Solutions using GAB's Rapid Application Development toolkit, creating custom screens, reports, dashboards, and workflow automation without touching the ERP's core code — so every customization survives future Global Shop Solutions upgrades instead of breaking with them.
In practical terms, GAB is the layer inside Global Shop Solutions that gives Dallas manufacturers a way to shape screens, reports, dashboards, and automated processes around their specific job, using business data objects instead of writing straight to the underlying tables. For any shop that has previously lost a hand-built workaround to a vendor patch, that architectural choice is the whole reason GAB customizations don't share that fate.

CLOSER LOOK
Why Dallas-Fort Worth Manufacturers Need GAB Customization
GAB closes that gap. It lets your Global Shop Solutions ERP bend around AS9100 documentation needs, ITAR-sensitive access controls, lot-traceability for medical components, or a logistics team that needs shipment status the moment a truck leaves the dock — without a system overhaul and without breaking when Global Shop Solutions pushes its next update, because GAB writes through business data objects instead of touching raw tables directly.
HOW IT WORKS
What This Looks Like in a Dallas Shop
A label prints at the nearest forklift or workstation printer instead of a central station three buildings away, which adds up fast across a sprawling DFW plant. AS9100- and ITAR-relevant data stays locked to cleared users, while everyone else still gets a screen built around their own job. Shift swaps and time-off requests get handled inside the ERP itself instead of a spreadsheet or separate app nobody remembers to check. A production dashboard replaces the monthly Excel export someone used to build by hand. Traceability labels track lots in the way that medical devices and aerospace components actually require. Dock and shipment alerts fire automatically for a logistics operation where a missed truck window is expensive.
WHAT YOU GET
Our Global Application Builder (GAB) Consulting Services in Dallas
ERP Screen Customization
Standard Global Shop Solutions screens are built for the broadest possible customer base, which means most Dallas manufacturers end up hunting for data spread across several screens or working around fields that don't apply to them. Our GAB consultants rework existing screens around how your team actually works — combining data from multiple screens into one view, hiding irrelevant fields, adding fields specific to your process, and setting layouts by role. An aerospace subcontractor in Fort Worth might need a combined traveler and inspection view for quality staff, while a Dallas electronics assembler needs a purchasing screen that shows only open POs against lead-time-sensitive components.
Custom Application Development
Sometimes what a Dallas shop needs simply isn't part of Global Shop Solutions' standard toolkit, and that's where we write it ourselves inside the ERP using GAB's development language rather than bolting on a separate piece of software. Because the code lives in the business data object layer, it keeps working through the next Global Shop Solutions release instead of needing a rebuild. Past DFW builds have ranged from AS9100-aligned quality documentation tools to job-tracking applications covering more than one facility.
Custom Reports & Automated Scheduling
A surprising amount of a Dallas manufacturing office's week still goes into pulling exports and reformatting them by hand before anyone actually reads the numbers. We build the report once in GAB — production summaries, job costing, labor variance, financials — and set it to run and land in the right inbox on its own schedule thereafter. For a facility running multiple shifts, that can mean a supervisor's report is already sitting there the moment their shift ends, with nobody having touched it.
KPI Dashboards & Business Intelligence
Nobody in a plant manager's or executive's role wants to click through five ERP screens to answer a simple performance question. Our GAB dashboards pull directly from live Global Shop Solutions data to surface on-time delivery, job-costing accuracy, scrap and rework, and floor throughput in one place. Run multiple lines or sites across the Dallas metro, and this is what tells you where things are actually slipping right now, not at month-end when it's too late to fix.
Data Integration & Workflow Automation
Your ERP is rarely the only system in the building — CRM, accounting software, supplier portals, and machines on the floor all generate data that shouldn't have to be retyped into Global Shop Solutions by hand. We connect those pieces using ODBC and XML integrations, and set GAB up to talk directly to Ethernet- or serial-connected equipment and SCADA systems where applicable. Once that's in place, machine and logistics data land in the ERP on their own.
Custom ERP Subsystems & Office Integration
Some Dallas operations need functionality beyond a single screen or report — a full subsystem built around a specific process, like quality documentation tracking for aerospace suppliers or lot-level traceability workflows for medical device manufacturers. We build these as complete custom subsystems inside your existing Global Shop Solutions environment and connect GAB to everyday tools like Microsoft Office, so data moves between your ERP and the software your team already relies on.
User Security & Role-Based Access
Giving a controller, a buyer, and a floor supervisor identical access to the same screen is rarely the right call, and inside DFW's aerospace and defense-adjacent supply base, it can actually violate a compliance requirement rather than just being sloppy practice. We set up role-based permissions inside your GAB build so financial, operational, and ITAR-relevant information only reaches the people cleared to see it.
GAB Community Resources & Ongoing Support
We help Dallas clients tap into the broader GAB ecosystem, including pre-built applications and reports available through Global Shop Solutions' ARC Store, so you're not always starting from a blank screen when a new requirement comes up. We also stay reachable long after the original build, so small tweaks and new requests don't require restarting the entire engagement from scratch.
WHAT WE DELIVER
Our GAB Consulting Process in Dallas
Understanding Your Floor
Before any GAB work begins, we walk through your current Global Shop Solutions screens with the people who use them daily — buyers, floor supervisors, quality staff — to find where the standard ERP is costing time versus where a targeted customization would actually move the needle.
Written Scope, No Surprises
You get a specific breakdown of what's being built, how long it will take, and what it costs, before a single line of GAB code is written. If something changes mid-project, that's a documented change order, not a silent scope shift.
Building Inside Global Shop, Not Around It
Development happens through GAB's business data object layer rather than direct database edits. That's the difference between a customization that keeps working after your next Global Shop Solutions version update and one that quietly breaks.
Proving It on Your Own Numbers
We don't sign off on a build using dummy records. Each screen, report, or dashboard runs against your actual job data first, so any edge case in your real production history gets caught before your team relies on it.
Rollout Timed Around Your Shifts
Go-live happens during a window that doesn't interrupt production, with role-specific walkthroughs for whoever will actually touch the new screen or report — not a generic training deck.
Staying On for What Comes Next
Manufacturing processes change, and so do the screens built around them. Our team remains available to extend or adjust a GAB build as your Dallas operation grows, rather than treating go-live as the end of the relationship.

BACKGROUND
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Global Application Builder (GAB) consulting in Dallas?
In Dallas, this means bringing in a team that reshapes your existing Global Shop Solutions ERP around your process — custom screens, reports, dashboards, and automated workflows — instead of asking your shop floor to keep working around the ERP's default limitations. The key technical detail is that GAB writes through business data objects instead of the ERP's core code, so your build stays intact and functional through every future Global Shop Solutions version upgrade without requiring costly rework.
Why hire a Texas-based GAB consulting company instead of a remote freelancer for a Dallas facility?
A Texas-based GAB consulting company understands the local manufacturing landscape, works in the same time zone, and can respond faster than an out-of-state agency or a single remote freelancer juggling other clients. DESSS also provides a dedicated, consistent project team rather than one point of contact, which reduces risk if that individual becomes unavailable partway through your engagement or afterward.
Does GAB customization affect future Global Shop Solutions ERP upgrades?
It shouldn't, and here's why: GAB writes to business data objects instead of editing the ERP's raw database tables. So when Global Shop Solutions ships its next core update, whatever we built for you — screens, reports, dashboards, applications — keeps running exactly as it did before. No re-testing cycle, no rebuild project, no lost functionality your team was counting on.
What Dallas-Fort Worth industries benefit most from GAB customization?
DFW's aerospace and defense subcontractors, electronics and telecom component manufacturers, medical device producers, precision machine shops, and logistics-heavy distribution operations all benefit, since each carries compliance, traceability, or throughput requirements that standard Global Shop Solutions screens were never built to handle without significant manual workarounds and duplicate data entry.
How long does a GAB consulting project take in Dallas?
It really comes down to what's being built. A single screen tweak or a scheduled report is often done in a matter of days. A full custom application, a new ERP subsystem, or a rollout spanning more than one Dallas facility is a longer conversation — typically several weeks to a couple of months. We won't give you a number until we've scoped your specific request in writing, so the timeline you get is one we can actually hold to.
Is GAB consulting expensive compared to building custom ERP software from scratch?
Generally, no — and this is one of the more overlooked advantages of GAB. Because it operates inside the Global Shop Solutions license you already pay for, you're not commissioning a separate piece of software built from the ground up outside your ERP. Actual cost still varies by how much you're asking for, so we'll walk you through a written estimate once we understand the scope, rather than quoting a number blindly.
Can DESSS fix or take over an existing GAB customization built by someone else?
Yes. It's a common situation — a previous contractor built something in GAB and then became unreachable, and now nobody on staff can safely modify it. We start by reading through the existing GAB code to map out what it's actually doing before touching anything, then either patch it forward or rebuild the pieces that need it, depending on how the original was structured.
What's the difference between hiring a solo GAB developer and a GAB consulting company for a Dallas facility?
With a solo developer, everything about your customization lives in one person's head — if they leave the field, take another job, or are simply unreachable for a few weeks, you're stuck. A consulting firm spreads that knowledge across a team and documents the build as it goes, so a staffing change on our end never turns into a stalled project on yours.
Can GAB handle ITAR or AS9100 compliance requirements common in Dallas aerospace manufacturing?
Yes. GAB's role-based security and workflow configuration let us restrict sensitive data and screens to cleared personnel only, while building documentation and traceability screens aligned to AS9100 and similar quality frameworks. DESSS has experience configuring these controls for DFW aerospace and defense-adjacent suppliers who need compliance built into the ERP itself, not managed through a separate spreadsheet system.
Does DESSS provide on-site GAB support for Dallas manufacturers?
DESSS delivers GAB consulting through a combination of remote development and Texas-based responsiveness, giving Dallas manufacturers direct access to experienced consultants without the overhead of a strictly on-site-only provider. This keeps costs predictable while still providing the fast turnaround and local market understanding that an out-of-state agency typically cannot match.
