Global Application Builder (GAB) Services in San Antonio, TX
Custom screens, workflows, and reporting built on Global Shop Solutions ERP — engineered for San Antonio's aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing base.
OVERVIEW
Global Application Builder (GAB) Support for San Antonio Manufacturers
San Antonio's manufacturing economy runs on precision and compliance. From aerospace maintenance and defense subcontracting around Port San Antonio to automotive supply chain work feeding the Toyota plant on the South Side, local manufacturers operate under contract terms that off-the-shelf ERP screens were never built to handle. DESSS works inside your existing Global Shop Solutions environment to build the Global Application Builder (GAB) customizations that close that gap — without disrupting the core system your shop floor already depends on.
We don't sell a new ERP. We extend the one you have, so your team gets purpose-built screens, validations, and reports that match how your San Antonio operation actually runs.
Why San Antonio Manufacturers Need Global Application Builder (GAB) Customization
San Antonio's industrial base carries some of the strictest compliance and traceability demands in Texas:
- Defense and government subcontractors operating near Joint Base San Antonio and Port San Antonio face documentation requirements tied to DFARS compliance and prime contractor reviews, and off-the-shelf ERP fields typically aren't built to capture that level of detail.
- Aerospace MRO (maintenance, repair, overhaul) shops need part-level traceability, work order sign-offs, and inspection records that hold up under FAA and customer audits.
- Automotive tiering suppliers feeding just-in-time delivery schedules need real-time production visibility and exception alerts that generic dashboards don't provide.
- Biosciences and medical device manufacturers in the South Texas Medical Center corridor need controlled change logs and validation records to stay audit-ready.
Generic ERP configuration forces these businesses into workarounds — spreadsheets bolted onto the ERP, manual double-entry, or compliance gaps that surface during an audit. GAB customization removes the workaround by building the exact screen, calculation, or approval step your operation needs directly into Global Shop Solutions.
OUR SERVICES
Common Global Application Builder (GAB) Problems We Fix for San Antonio Clients
Manufacturers who've already tried customizing Global Shop Solutions on their own — or through a generic support vendor — usually run into the same three issues before they call us:
Customizations breaking after an update or hotfix
When custom screens are built outside the platform's own object framework, an update can wipe out months of work overnight. We build exclusively through GAB's native business objects, so your customizations stay intact through version updates instead of needing a rebuild every cycle.
Inconsistent field naming makes custom reports painful
The same data point often lives under different field names across different Global Shop Solutions tables, which turns simple report requests into hours of guesswork. We map this out once during discovery so every report we build pulls clean, consistent data — no more guessing which field actually holds what you need.
Manual work just to get data into Excel
Basic exports — customer lists, vendor activity, GL detail — often require custom programming just to land in a usable spreadsheet. We build direct, repeatable exports so your team stops re-keying data by hand.
BACKGROUND
Why DESSS-Built GAB Customizations Don't Break During Global Shop Solutions Upgrades
GAB customizations that read and write data through Global Shop Solutions' business data objects — rather than reaching directly into the underlying database tables — stay insulated when the platform's internal structure changes during an upgrade. That's the technical reason DESSS-built customizations for San Antonio clients keep working release after release, instead of becoming a support ticket every time Global Shop Solutions pushes an update.
One Dedicated GAB Consultant for Your San Antonio Account, Start to Finish
A lot of GAB support work gets handled through rotating support tickets — a different technician each time, re-explaining your process, your compliance requirements, and your prior customizations from scratch. DESSS assigns the same consultant to your account for the life of the engagement. That means faster turnaround on change requests and no wasted hours getting a new person up to speed on your aerospace traceability requirements or your defense contract documentation standards.

BACKGROUND
Frequently Asked Questions About GAB Customization in San Antonio
Does GAB customization work with our current version of Global Shop Solutions?
Yes. GAB customizations are built on the native Global Shop Solutions framework, which is designed to support tailored screens and workflows across supported versions.
Will our customizations break during the next Global Shop Solutions upgrade?
Not with DESSS. We build strictly through GAB's native business objects rather than direct database edits, which is the reason our customizations for other San Antonio clients have carried through multiple version upgrades without a rebuild.
We need traceability for defense contract audits. Can GAB handle that?
Yes. We regularly build lot tracking, certification capture, and sign-off documentation screens for aerospace and defense subcontractors that need to produce clean audit trails on demand.
How long does a typical GAB customization project take?
It depends on scope — a single custom screen or report can often be delivered in a few weeks, while a full workflow overhaul spanning multiple departments takes longer. We scope timelines during the initial consultation.
Do you support ongoing changes after the initial build?
Yes. Many San Antonio clients start with one core customization and expand it over time as new reporting or compliance needs come up.
