Prophet 21 Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) Services
DESSS configures Prophet 21 DRP for multi-location Texas wholesale distributors — optimizing replenishment, reducing overstock, and improving service levels across branches.
Managing inventory across multiple branches without a properly configured Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) system creates costly operational problems. One branch ends up overstocked while another faces stock shortages, buyers spend time manually overriding replenishment recommendations, and emergency transfers or rush purchase orders become part of daily operations. Over time, these inefficiencies increase carrying costs, reduce fill rates, and put pressure on margins across the entire distribution network.
Prophet 21’s DRP module is built to solve these challenges by helping distributors balance inventory across locations, automate replenishment decisions, and improve network-wide inventory visibility. However, many distributors either never fully configured DRP or are operating with outdated planning rules that no longer reflect current demand patterns, supplier performance, or branch operations.
DESSS helps wholesale distributors configure, optimize, and continuously tune Prophet 21 DRP environments based on how their real distribution network operates. From replenishment logic and transfer planning to exception management and seasonal demand forecasting, we build DRP configurations that improve inventory accuracy, reduce excess stock, and support scalable multi-location growth.
What DESSS DRP Configuration Covers
Planning Rule Design
Stocking policies, replenishment methods (min/max, demand-based, time-phased), safety stock calculations, and lead time parameters — configured at the item-location level based on your actual demand patterns and service level requirements.
Branch & Network Replenishment Logic
For multi-branch distributors: which locations replenish from the DC, which replenish from vendors, how transfers are prioritized, and how network-wide demand signals feed planning recommendations.
Exception Management Configuration
DRP is only useful if buyers can act on exceptions efficiently. DESSS configures exception visibility — overstock alerts, stockout risk, transfer opportunities, and demand spike signals — so your purchasing team spends time on decisions, not searching for problems.
Seasonal & Promotional Planning
Seasonal demand adjustments, promotional inventory positioning, and event-driven replenishment logic are configured into P21's planning engine — reducing both stockouts and post-promotion overstock.
DRP Performance Reporting
Fill rate by branch, replenishment accuracy, transfer efficiency, and inventory turnover by location are built into P21 dashboards and reports so you can see whether DRP is working and where it needs adjustment.
Ongoing DRP Tuning
DRP parameters need maintenance as your product mix, demand patterns, and supplier base change. DESSS offers ongoing DRP review and tuning engagements to keep your planning engine calibrated.
