DATA PROTECTION

What does DESSS deliver for Disaster Recovery Design and Testing

DESSS delivers Disaster Recovery Design and Testing on Data Protection & Cyber Resilience through the disaster recovery design and testing implementation: data discovery; classification workshops; labelling and protection build; audit-mode policies; staged enforcement; monitoring and review. Each step closes with named deliverables you sign off before the next begins.

THE WORKFLOW

6 steps, start to finish

Every engagement follows a documented sequence, so you always know which stage the work is in and what closes it.

Data discovery — Weeks 1–3
Classification workshops — Weeks 3–5
Labelling and protection build — Weeks 5–8
Audit-mode policies — Weeks 8–11
Staged enforcement — Weeks 11–14
Monitoring and review — Ongoing

WHAT YOU GET

Named deliverables, signed off

Each step closes with deliverables you review and approve before the next one begins — progress you can audit rather than a status colour on a slide.

Discovery report
Data location map
Risk hotspots
Label taxonomy
Handling rules
Owner agreement
Configured labels
Auto-labelling rules
Scenario tests
Audit findings

HOW WE DELIVER

Inside the Disaster Recovery Design and Testing workflow

Classification decided with the business, then enforced gradually — audit first, block later.

Step 01

Weeks 1–3

Data discovery

Content scanning across collaboration, endpoint and cloud storage shows where regulated and confidential data actually lives, which is rarely where the policy assumes.

Deliverables:

Discovery report
Data location map
Risk hotspots

Step 04

Weeks 8–11

Audit-mode policies

Loss-prevention policies run in audit mode across Data Protection & Cyber Resilience so the true volume of matches and false positives is known before anyone's work is interrupted.

Deliverables:

Audit findings
False positive analysis
Policy tuning

Step 02

Weeks 3–5

Classification workshops

Label taxonomy and handling rules are defined with legal, compliance and the business units that own the data, because a taxonomy invented by IT alone gets worked around within a month.

Deliverables:

Label taxonomy
Handling rules
Owner agreement

Step 05

Weeks 11–14

Staged enforcement

Enforcement starts with the highest-risk data movements and expands, with user notification messages written to explain rather than accuse.

Deliverables:

Enforcement plan
User messaging
Incident workflow

Step 03

Weeks 5–8

Labelling and protection build

Labels, auto-labelling conditions, encryption and access rules are implemented in Disaster Recovery Design and Testing, with co-authoring and external sharing scenarios tested before rollout.

Deliverables:

Configured labels
Auto-labelling rules
Scenario tests

Step 06

Ongoing

Monitoring and review

Match volumes, user overrides and incident outcomes are reviewed monthly, and policies that generate noise without risk reduction are changed rather than tolerated.

Deliverables:

Monthly review
Override analysis
Policy changes

COMMON QUESTIONS

About Disaster Recovery Design and Testing

A typical DESSS Disaster Recovery Design and Testing delivery runs 6 steps, with the final step reached around ongoing. Complex integrations, multi-entity scope, or regulated environments extend that — the discovery session produces a dated plan for your case rather than an average.

Every step closes with named deliverables — Audit findings, Auto-labelling rules, Configured labels, Data location map, Discovery report, Enforcement plan, False positive analysis, Handling rules — so progress is visible, auditable, and reviewable rather than a status colour on a slide.

Yes. Integration with the systems your disaster recovery depends on is designed early and delivered with validation, monitoring, and error handling, so failures are visible and recoverable.

No. Disaster Recovery Design and Testing is often delivered alongside the other Data Protection & Cyber Resilience products listed below, in a phased roadmap that avoids rebuilding earlier phases. DESSS sequences them so each phase stands on its own.
