Global Application Builder (GAB) consulting for Austin
Build custom Global Shop ERP screens, automate shop floor workflows, and streamline operations with expert Global Application Builder consulting for manufacturers across Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, and the greater Central Texas manufacturing corridor.
OVERVIEW
Global Application Builder (GAB) Support for Austin-Area Manufacturers
Austin's manufacturing base has grown well beyond its tech-hub reputation — semiconductor and electronics assemblers, precision machine shops, aerospace component suppliers, and advanced manufacturing operations across the Austin–Round Rock–Georgetown metro all run on tight tolerances and tighter timelines. If your shop runs Global Shop Solutions ERP, Global Application Builder (GAB) is the tool that lets you adapt the system to your exact processes — without waiting on a vendor update or risking your core ERP.
DESSS provides GAB consulting for Austin manufacturers who need custom screens, automated reports, real-time dashboards, and purpose-built applications inside their existing Global Shop Solutions environment. We work remotely with your team, so you get experienced GAB development without hiring a full-time in-house programmer or depending solely on vendor R&D queues.
GAB, or Global Application Builder, is the Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool inside Global Shop Solutions ERP that lets Austin manufacturers build custom screens, reports, dashboards, and workflows without altering the core system.
Why This Matters for Austin Shops Specifically
Central Texas manufacturers are scaling fast — new facilities, added shifts, and shifting supply chains driven by the region's semiconductor and advanced manufacturing growth. Standard ERP screens rarely keep pace with that kind of change. GAB lets your Global Shop Solutions system flex with your business: a new inspection step, a different label format for a new customer, a dashboard for a metric your last audit flagged — all without a system overhaul.
Why GAB Customizations Survive Upgrades
GAB doesn't write directly to your database tables. It works through business data objects — a buffer layer between your custom screens and the underlying data structure. When Global Shop Solutions pushes an update, your GAB-built screens, reports, and applications keep running untouched. You get to stay current on your ERP version and stay customized, instead of picking one or the other.

Real-World GAB Projects for Manufacturing Shops
- Shop floor label printing: Route material and lot labels straight to the nearest printer or workstation, cutting walk time across multi-building facilities
- Self-service employee requests: Let staff submit time-off requests or report equipment issues directly from the ERP, without a separate HR system
- Excel-to-dashboard conversion: Replace manual spreadsheet pulls with live dashboards fed directly from ERP data
- Custom lot-tracking labels: Denser, more accurate labeling for traceability-heavy industries like electronics and aerospace
- Role-based data views: Control exactly who sees what — critical for shops handling ITAR, aerospace, or semiconductor-adjacent work
CAPABILITIES
Our Global Application Builder (GAB) Services for Austin Manufacturers
ERP Screen Customization
We reshape your existing Global Shop ERP screens around how your Austin team actually works — adding or removing fields, merging multiple screens into one view, and setting user-specific layouts that cut clicks and training time on the shop floor and in the office.
Custom Application Development
Our developers build new applications inside your ERP using GAB's RAD language — extending functionality without touching core Global Shop Solutions code, so your build stays intact through every future upgrade.
Custom Reports & Automated Scheduling
We build specialized reports beyond the standard ERP output and schedule them to run automatically — production summaries, job costing breakdowns, financial reports — delivered on schedule without manual exports.
KPI Dashboards & Business Intelligence
We design dashboards around the metrics that matter to your operation, pulling live ERP data and layering in external benchmarks where useful — on-time delivery, job costing accuracy, scrap rates — all in one real-time view.
Data Integration & Workflow Automation
We connect your ERP to third-party systems via ODBC and XML to ensure reliable data flow, reduce manual entry, and keep every department in sync. We can also configure GAB to interact directly with Ethernet- or serial-connected shop floor machines and SCADA systems.
Custom ERP Subsystems
For processes standard Global Shop Solutions modules don't cover, we build entirely new subsystems that integrate natively with your ERP — extending capability while staying fully compatible with the base system.
Office Suite & Third-Party Integration
We configure GAB to work with the tools your team already relies on — Microsoft Office and other business software — so data moves cleanly between your ERP and everyday work.
User Security & Access Configuration
We set up user-defined workflows and role-based security inside GAB, so sensitive data — customer specs, cost data, compliance records — stays visible only to the right people.
GAB Community Resources & Ongoing Support
We help you tap into the wider GAB ecosystem, including pre-built applications and reports from Global Shop Solutions' ARC Store, and provide ongoing support as your customizations evolve alongside your business.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does DESSS provide on-site GAB support in Austin?
Our GAB consulting is delivered remotely, which lets us keep costs lower than an on-site-only provider while still giving Austin manufacturers direct, responsive access to experienced GAB developers.
Does GAB customization affect future ERP upgrades?
No. GAB customizations run independently of the core system through business data objects, so Global Shop Solutions updates don't overwrite or break your custom work.
Can GAB integrate with tools outside Global Shop Solutions?
Yes. GAB supports integration with third-party software and standard business tools like Microsoft Office through common networking protocols like ODBC and XML.
How long does a typical GAB project take?
It depends on scope — a single custom screen or report can take days, while a full custom application or subsystem may take several weeks. We scope every project individually after reviewing your requirements.
Is GAB a good fit for a growing Austin manufacturer that just implemented Global Shop Solutions?
Yes. GAB is often most valuable in the months after go-live, once your team has identified the gaps between standard ERP screens and how your shop actually operates day to day.
Is GAB customization more expensive compared to custom software development?
GAB works within your existing Global Shop Solutions license, making it a lower-cost path to customization than building separate custom software. Actual cost depends on project scope — a consultation with DESSS gives you a clear estimate.
