Global Application Builder (GAB) Consulting Services in Houston

Standard Global Shop Solutions screens are built for the widest possible customer base, which means most Houston manufacturers end up working around fields they don't need and hunting for data spread across multiple screens. Our GAB consultants rework existing screens to match how your team actually operates — combining data from several screens into a single view, hiding irrelevant fields, adding fields specific to your process, and setting user-specific layouts by role. A Houston machine shop, for example, might need a combined work-order and inventory view for floor supervisors, while a Global Application Builder screen built for purchasing shows only open POs and exception flags. The result is fewer clicks, faster onboarding for new hires, and less time spent navigating around the ERP instead of using it.

When your process needs something Global Shop Solutions doesn't offer out of the box, our developers build it directly inside your ERP using GAB's Rapid Application Development language. This is not bolt-on software sitting outside your system — it's a true extension of the ERP itself, built without touching core Global Shop Solutions code. That distinction matters at upgrade time: because the customization runs through business data objects, a version update from Global Shop Solutions doesn't wipe out the application or force a rebuild. Houston clients have used this for everything from custom quoting tools tailored to oilfield equipment pricing structures to specialized job-tracking applications for multi-site fabrication operations.

Manual reporting is one of the biggest hidden time costs in a Houston manufacturing office — pulling exports, reformatting in Excel, emailing them around every morning. We build custom GAB reports for production summaries, job costing breakdowns, labor variance, and financial reporting, then schedule them to run and distribute automatically at set intervals. A Houston job shop running multiple shifts, for instance, can have a shift-close production report land in supervisors' inboxes automatically at shift change, with zero manual work. Once built, the report keeps running without anyone touching it.

Executives and plant managers need to see performance at a glance, not dig through ERP screens to find it. We build live GAB-powered dashboards tracking on-time delivery percentage, job costing accuracy, scrap and rework rates, and shop floor throughput, pulling directly from your live ERP data rather than a static export. For Houston manufacturers managing multiple production lines or facilities, this means one screen showing exactly where performance is slipping, updated in real time instead of at month-end close.

Most Houston manufacturers run more than just their ERP — CRM systems, accounting tools, supplier portals, and shop floor equipment all need to talk to Global Shop Solutions, not sit next to it. We build ODBC- and XML-based integrations that connect your ERP to third-party systems, and configure GAB to communicate directly with Ethernet- or serial-connected shop floor machines and SCADA packages. This lets machine data flow into the ERP automatically instead of being logged by hand, cutting data entry errors and giving you a more accurate real-time picture of production.

Some Houston operations need functionality that goes beyond a single screen or report — an entirely new subsystem built around a specific process, like specialized quality control tracking for aerospace suppliers or compliance documentation workflows for oil & gas contractors. We build these as full custom subsystems inside your existing Global Shop Solutions environment and connect GAB to everyday tools like Microsoft Office so data moves between your ERP and the software your team already uses daily, without duplicate entry.

A shop floor supervisor, a buyer, and a controller should never be looking at the same screen with the same access. We configure role-based workflows and permissions within your GAB customizations so that sensitive financial and operational data remains visible only to those who need it, while still giving every role a screen built specifically for their job.

We start on-site or remotely, mapping your current Global Shop Solutions setup against your actual production workflow — identifying exactly where standard screens are slowing your team down and where GAB can close the gap.

Every custom screen, report, or application is scoped in writing before development starts, with a clear cost and timeline. No open-ended billing, no scope creep discovered halfway through the project.

Our consultants build using business data objects, so nothing touches the core Global Shop Solutions code, protecting your customization from breakage during future ERP upgrades.

Every customization is tested against your real production data before go-live, not just sample records, so issues surface before your team depends on it daily.

We deploy during a low-impact window and train your team — floor supervisors, buyers, plant managers — on the exact screens and tools built for their specific roles.

Support continues after go-live to adjust, extend, or troubleshoot as your process evolves, rather than disappearing once the invoice is paid.
